In what is sure to be both an engaging and enchanting evening, world-renowned violist Jennifer Stumm will be performing a recital program featuring works by Schumann, Brahms and others at the University of New Haven's Alumni Lounge, Thursday, January 10th at 6:30 pm. Of Ms. Stumm The Washington Post notes...[she has] "a wonderful way of finding color in a phrase and injecting phosphorescent energy through rhythm."
This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the performance.
Ms. Stumm also appears as soloist with the NHSO at Woolsey Hall, New Haven, Thursday, January 17 at 7:30 pm. On the program Brahms' Variations on a theme of Haydn, Walton's Viola Concerto and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.

The NHSO and Target are pleased to announce a special musical event celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King at the Westfield CT Post Mall in Milford. The program, entitled “Lift Every Voice: Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King,” will feature players from the NHSO and choirs from Foran and Jonathan Law High Schools. The music will be conducted by Dr. Charles Garner, a noted organist, educator, composer, and retired Professor and Head of the Department of Music at SCSU.
The program, featuring music celebrating the civil rights movement and American ideals, will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 1 pm with a repeat performance at 2:30 pm in the Center Court of the Mall, located at 1201 Boston Post Road in Milford CT. Each performance will last approximately one hour. |

Join us for an afternoon of family fun as the NHSO presents the 2nd concert in its recently launched Family Concert Series.
The program entitled, "Recycle, Reuse, Rejoice!", will take place at the Omni Hotel New Haven, February 16 at 2 pm. Pre-concert activities begin at 1:30 pm. The program features the NHSO brass quintet performing recycled musical themes on recycled instruments and household materials reused in fascinating ways. Cyril May from the Yale Recycling Center will also be on hand to perform a brief show of "recycling magic".
Tickets are $12/adults and $5/children (under 18). The program is recommended for children ages 5-12 and their families.
